**Full Name:** Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari

 

**Biography:**

Imam Bukhari was born in Bukhara, present-day Uzbekistan. He traveled extensively across the Islamic world, from Egypt and Mecca to Baghdad and Kufa, seeking and verifying Hadiths. His dedication to learning and his meticulous approach to Hadith collection made him one of the most respected scholars in Islamic history.

 

**Major Contributions:**

– **Sahih al-Bukhari:** This collection is considered the most authentic compilation of Hadiths. Imam Bukhari spent 16 years compiling this work, carefully selecting 7,275 Hadiths from an initial pool of 600,000. He employed stringent criteria, ensuring each Hadith had an unbroken chain of reliable narrators.

– **Al-Adab al-Mufrad:** A collection focusing on ethics and manners, providing practical guidance for personal conduct.

 

**Legacy:**

Imam Bukhari’s methodology and his rigorous standards for authenticity set a high bar for Hadith scholarship. His works continue to be studied and revered, influencing generations of scholars and students.
