Pillars of Islam

• Shahadah (الشهادة)

  The Shahada (shahādah), also transliterated as Shahadah, is the central declaration of faith in Islam. It’s an Arabic phrase that translates to: “There is no god but God (Allah)” “and Muhammad is the Messenger of God”

• Salah (صلاح)

  Salah, also sometimes called Salat or Namaz, is the Islamic term for the ritual prayer that Muslims perform five times a day. It’s considered the second pillar of Islam and one of the most important practices in the faith.

• Sawm (صوم)

  Sawm refers to the Islamic practice of fasting, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. It’s one of the Five Pillars of Islam, the core tenets of the Muslim faith. Here’s a breakdown of Sawm: Abstinence, Purpose, Exemptions, Duration, Importance.

• Zakat (زكاة)

  Zakat is a mandatory charitable contribution in Islam. It’s considered one of the Five Pillars of Islam, alongside prayer (Salat), the declaration of faith (Shahadah), fasting during Ramadan (Sawm), and pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj).

• Hajj (الحج)

  Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, considered the fifth pillar of Islam. It’s a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all able-bodied adults who have the financial means.
